💥 오늘은 5월 18일입니다. 1980년 5월 광주의 시민들은 한국 독재 정권의 계엄군에 맞서 무장저항을 했습니다. 당시 미국 제국주의는 한국 독재정권의 광주학살 명령을 승인했습니다. 잔인한 진압이 이어졌고, 시민들은 무장해서 맞서 싸웠습니다.
광주의 전남도청을 마지막까지 지켰던 시민들은 “우리를 기억해달라”라고 방송했습니다. 광주항쟁은 한국에서 민주화를 염원하는 거대한 학생 세대 만들어냈습니다.
📢 78년이 넘는 점령의 세월 속 이어져 온 팔레스타인인들의 저항에 응답하고 인종학살과 나크바를 기억하는 학생들의 목소리는 오늘날 팔레스타인 세대를 만들어내고 있습니다. 상영회와 지난 나크바의 날 대학생 집회에서 우리 학생들이 외친 것처럼 팔레스타인인들의 저항과 기억에 연대하고 행동을 지속합시다. ✊️🇵🇸☺️

💥Today is May 18. In May 1980, the citizens of Gwangju mounted an armed resistance against the martial law troops of the South Korean dictatorship. At the time, U.S. imperialism approved the South Korean dictatorship’s order to carry out the Gwangju Massacre. Brutal suppression ensued, and the citizens took up arms to fight back.
The citizens who defended the Jeonnam Provincial Office in Gwangju until the very end broadcast a message saying, “Please remember us.” The Gwangju Uprising gave rise to a massive generation of students in South Korea who yearned for democratization.
📢 The voices of students responding Palestinian resistance continuing over 78 years and remembering the Nakba are forging today’s Palestinian generation. Just as our students shouted at the screening and the recent Nakba Day Student rally, let us continue to stand in solidarity with the resistance and memory of the Palestinians and take action. ✊️🇵🇸☺️
