[성명서] 호주 시드니 총기 살해
이스라엘은 반유대주의 프레임을 씌워 팔레스타인 연대 운동 공격 말라!
12월 14일 호주 시드니 본다이 해변에서 총기 소지자 두 명이 유대교 명절 행사에 모여 있던 인파에 발포했다. 이번 총격 사건의 명확한 동기는 아직 밝혀진 바 없지만, 우리는 무고한 이들의 희생에 반대한다. 그동안 우리는 이스라엘의 인종학살에 맞서며 이슬람 혐오, 유대인 혐오에 반대해왔다.
하지만 이스라엘은 이번 총기 살해를 빌미로 팔레스타인 연대 운동이 반유대주의를 부추긴다며 공격에 나섰다. 주한이스라엘대사관은 “인티파다를 글로벌화하라”는 구호가 테러리즘이고 반유대주의라며 유대인들에 대한 학살을 선동해왔다고 한다.
미국을 비롯한 서방 언론들은 공격자들의 파키스탄계 배경을 문제삼으며 이슬람주의의 영향을 받은 무슬림들의 테러였다고 한다.
이는 터무니없는 인종차별적 주장이다. 시드니 본다이 해변에서 공격자를 제압하고 추가 피해를 막은 이는 시리아 출신 무슬림이었다.
무엇보다 이스라엘의 인종학살에 맞선 팔레스타인 연대 운동은 인종차별에 반대해왔고, 전세계 많은 유대인들이 함께 해왔다.
팔레스타인은 무슬림과 유대인, 기독교인 등 다양한 종교가 서로 이웃으로 공존해 온 유구한 역사가 있다. 이를 파괴하며 살육을 저지른 진정한 테러범은 이스라엘과 이를 지원해 온 미국 등 서방 국가들이다.
아무리 이스라엘이 반유대주의 프레임을 씌우며 팔레스타인 연대에 찬 물을 끼얹으려 해도, 전세계 연대자들은 진실이 무엇인지 알고 있다. 우리는 그동안 해왔던 것처럼 유대인 혐오와 이슬람 혐오 모두에 반대하며 흔들림 없이 팔레스타인이 지중해에서 요르단강까지 완전히 해방될 때까지 연대를 멈추지 않을 것이다.

Israel Must Stop Attacking the Palestine Solidarity Movement by Framing it as Antisemitism!
On December 14, two gunmen opened fire on a crowd gathered for a Jewish holiday celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. While the precise motive for this shooting has not yet been confirmed, we oppose the sacrifice of innocent lives. We have consistently stood against Israel’s genocide while opposing both Islamophobia and Antisemitism.
However, Israel is using this shooting as a pretext to attack the Palestine solidarity movement, claiming it incites Antisemitism. The Israeli Embassy in Korea has claimed that the slogan “Globalize the Intifada” constitutes terrorism and Antisemitism, alleging it instigates the massacre of Jewish people.
Western media, including those in the United States, have highlighted the attackers’ Pakistani backgrounds, framing the incident as an act of terrorism by Muslims influenced by Islamism.
These are absurd and racist claims. It was, in fact, a Muslim from Syria who subdued the attackers at Sydney’s Bondi Beach and prevented further casualties.
Above all, the Palestine solidarity movement, which stands against Israel’s genocide, has always opposed racism, and many Jewish people around the world have joined this cause. Palestine has a long history where various religions—including Muslims, Jews, and Christians—coexisted as neighbors. The true terrorists who destroyed this peace and committed slaughter are Israel and the Western nations, such as the U.S., that have supported them.
No matter how hard Israel tries to dampen the spirit of Palestinian solidarity by framing it as Antisemitism, supporters worldwide know the truth. As we have always done, we will continue to oppose both Antisemitism and Islamophobia. We will not waver in our solidarity until Palestine is fully liberated, from the River to the Sea.
