미 트럼프 정부는 팔레스타인 연대 운동 탄압말라!
컬럼비아대 학생 마흐무드 칼릴을 석방하라!
지난 3월 8일, 미국 정부가 컬럼비아대학교 팔레스타인인 유학생 마흐무드 칼릴을 대학 기숙사에서 체포했다.
마흐무드 칼릴은 지난해 미국을 뒤흔들며 전 세계 팔레스타인 연대 운동의 파도를 일으켰던 컬럼비아대학교 농성 시위의 리더였다.
트럼프는 반유대주의를 뿌리 뽑는다는 얼토당토 않는 이유를 내세우며 대학가 팔레스타인 연대 운동을 공격하고 있다. 또한 트럼프는 이번 체포가 시작일 뿐이라며 대대적 탄압을 예고하고 있다. 가자지구 인종청소와 강제 이주 구상을 밀어붙이는 “이스라엘 최고의 친구” 트럼프답다.
미국의 대학가 농성 시위는 우리 한국의 ‘팔레스타인인들과 연대하는 사람들’에게도 큰 영감을 줬다. 또한 이에 영감을 받아 자신의 대학에서 연대 농성 시위를 벌인 학생들과도 함께 해 왔다.
우리는 미국 정부의 팔레스타인 연대 운동 탄압을 강력히 규탄한다. 트럼프 정부는 마흐무드 칼릴을 즉각 석방하라.

NO to Trump’s crackdown on Palestinian solidarity movement!
FREE Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil!
On 8 March, the US government arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student at Columbia University, in his university dormitory. Mahmoud Khalil was the leader of the Columbia University encampment protests that rocked the US last year and sparked a wave of Palestinian solidarity around the world.
Trump’s arrest is just the beginning of a crackdown on Palestinian solidarity movements on university campuses, citing the flimsy reason of rooting out antisemitism. This is Trump, “Israel’s best friend,” pushing for the ethnic cleansing and forced displacement of Gaza.
The university encampments in the US have been a great inspiration for ‘People in solidarity with Palestinians’ in Korea and we have been standing with students who have been inspired to organise solidarity encampments at their own universities.
We strongly condemn the US govt’s crackdown on the Palestinian solidarity movement and demand that the Trump administration immediately release Mahmoud Khalil.
