왜 오렌지인가요?
오렌지는 팔레스타인의 저항과 회복력을 상징하지만 상대적으로 덜 알려진 상징입니다. 수박이나 다른 상징들이 대중화되기 전부터 사용되어 왔습니다. 야파 오렌지는 한때 전 세계적으로 유명했습니다. 팔레스타인 농업의 자부심이었던 야파 오렌지는 빼앗겼고, 이스라엘의 상품으로 이름을 바꾸어 판매되었습니다. 오렌지는 또한 팔레스타인 사람들이 자신들의 땅과 맺고 있는 깊은 유대감을 상징합니다. 그만큼 오렌지는 중요한 의미를 지니고 있어서, 한때 팔레스타인 국기에 사용할 상징으로 고려되기도 했습니다.
[Designer Comment] Why oranges?
oranges are a less well known symbol of Palestinian resistance and resilience. Before the watermelon or other symbols became popular.
Jaffa oranges used to be famous all over the world, what was once the pride of Palestinian agriculture was stolen and rebranded as an Israeli product.
The oranges also represent the Palestinians’ deep connection to their land so much so that at some point in time oranges were taken into consideration as a symbol to use on the Palestinian flag itself.
