This message was presented at the September 28th ‘Solidarity with Palestinians! 53rd Protest & March (Seoul)‘.
Hello everyone, I’m Abdussalam Elzamly, 18 years old from Gaza.
Just like any young in this world, I have a dream which is simply the right of decent education, to study hard and achieve my learning goals that I had as a student. In October 2023 I achieve one of my dreams to be among the very limited quota for technical branch secondary students to learn web programming. I aspire to leave my positive impact in my life and my family, society and country as well as a web programmer.
However, I am completely disappointed with depriving me from this simple granteed right of Education by international treatments. How am I supposed to keep focus on studies amid a flood of pain and Genocide, tens of thousands of students and teachers are being massacred, schools are being bombed in daily basis. My friends Moahammad Baroud, Saif Al Khateeb, and my teacher Yousef Al Dbary all of them was killed by the zionest killing machine. May their souls rest in peace.
My question to the world: How am I supposed to keep on living normally while I couldn’t even finish my high school studies because of this ongoing Genocide! How I can escape and skip these shocking terrific memories and reality and continue my life normally? The academic life has completely paralyzed in Gaza while we as students don’t have any clue about what may happen to our academic future and our simple innocent dreams.
Everyday I leave the tent which is currently my home and go miles by walking to sell some handmade candies to bring some money that helping me and my family out. That was not supposed to be what I spend my precious time doing.
All of what I ask you for to please keep on speaking up for me and for students in Gaza until we again become able to enjoy the right of education safely, home.

안녕하십니까. 저는 가자지구에 살고 있는 18살의 압둘살람 알자믈리입니다.
이 세상의 많은 청소년들처럼 저 또한 꿈이 있습니다. 학업을 열심히 이어가서 학업적인 성취를 이루는 것이죠. 2023년 10월에 저는 티오가 굉장히 적은 실업계 학생들 중에서도 티오가 굉장히 적은 웹 프로그래밍 교육 과정으로 선발되기도 했습니다. 저는 웹 프로그래머로서 또 가족의 일원으로서 이 사회의 일원으로서 긍정적인 영향을 끼치고 싶습니다.
그러나 저의 이런 기본적인 교육권을 누릴 수 없는 가자지구 현실 때문에 저의 이런 꿈은 처참히 무너지고 있습니다. 지금 같은 인종 학살의 와중에, 수많은 학생들과 교사들이 학살당하는 와중에 제가 어떻게 학업에 집중할 수가 있겠습니까? 제 친구 Moahammad Baroud, Saif Al Khateeb, 그리고 선생님 Yousef Al Dbary는 모두 시온의 살인 기계에 살해당했습니다. 고인이 된 그들의 명복을 빕니다.
제가 세상에 던지고 싶은 질문은 이것입니다. 지금 이 계속되는 인종 학살로 제가 고등학교도 마치지 못하는 이 상황에서 어떻게 정상적인 삶을 살아갈 수 있습니까? 이 끔찍한 기억들을 딛고 또 현실을 딛고 어떻게 정상적인 삶을 이어갈 수 있겠습니까? 가자지구에서는 학생들에게 학업이라는 게 완전히 멈췄고, 또 우리의 미래가 어떻게 될지 전혀 예측할 수 없는 상황입니다.
저는 매일같이 지금 제 거처인 천막을 나서서 제 가족들을 조금이라도 돕기 위해, 수제 캔디를 팔기 위해서 몇 마일씩을 걸어가야 합니다. 학생으로서의 학업이 아니라 이런 식으로 시간을 보내게 될 줄은 상상도 못했습니다.
저는 여러분께 간곡히 호소드립니다. 앞으로도 가자지구의 제 친구들과 학생들의 목소리를 대변해 주십시오. 그리고 우리가 언젠가는 우리 집에서 안전하게 학업을 이어갈 수 있도록 해 주십시오.
