전쟁이 시작된 지 거의 5개월이 지난 지금 우리는 가진 모든 것을 두고 집을 떠났습니다.
소나기처럼 쏟아지는 총알과 포격 소리 사이로 도망쳐 나름 안전하다는 마와시 지역에 도착했습니다.
그럼에도 매일 폭격과 총격 소리에 잠을 깹니다.
지금 저희는 의료 시스템이 완전히 무너졌다고 이야기합니다.
병원은 운영을 멈췄고, 어머니는 고혈압 환자신데 약을 구할 수가 없습니다.
어떤 만성 질환 환자도 제대로 치료를 못 받습니다.
제 이모는 정전으로 인해 신장을 투석할 수 없어 돌아가셨습니다.
그렇다고 교육 체계가 의료 체계보다 덜 중요한 것은 아닙니다.
100만 명이 넘는 우리 아이들과 청년들이 학교와 대학에서 정규 교육을 받지 못합니다.
기본적인 지식의 원천을 잃은 이들에게 어떤 미래가 펼쳐질까요?
아이들은 지금 공포와 전쟁의 어둠 속에서 살아가고 있습니다.
의료 체계, 교육 체계의 붕괴에 더해 경제까지 무너졌습니다.
저는 지금 지자체 직원으로서 말씀을 드립니다.
도로, 통신, 하수 처리, 빗물 배수, 기타 개발 사업 등 인프라는 완전히 붕괴됐습니다.
저희가 예산을 구해 취약 계층을 돕고 사회 봉사하는 데 보냈던 지난 수 년 동안의 시간이 모두 물거품이 됐습니다.
저는 지금 영상으로 여러분들에게 이야기하지 못합니다.
영상과 음성을 빠른 속도로 안전하게 전송할 수 있는 통신이나 인터넷이 없기 때문입니다.
가슴 아프지만 아름다웠던 모든 것들이 파괴됐습니다.
집, 가족, 친구, 생계 수단을 잃었고 이제 이 도시에는 저희에겐 아무 것도 남지 않았습니다.
아름다운 모든 것은 사라지고 파괴됐습니다.
여러분의 참석과 지지와 시위가 저희에게 힘과 희망을 줍니다.
인류애와 평화를 지지하는 사람들이 노력과 시간과 돈을 들이며 인도주의적 대의를 실천하기 때문입니다.

Almost five months after the war began, we left our homes, leaving behind everything we had.
We fled through a shower of bullets and sound of artillery fire.
We arrived at a Al Mawasi which is considered as a safe area.
But every day we wake up to the sound of bombing and gunfire.
Now we talk about a completely collapsed healthcare system.
Hospitals have stopped operating.
My mother has high blood pressure and can’t get her medication.
No one with a chronic illness can get a proper treatment.
My aunt passed away because she couldn’t dialyze her kidneys due to the power outage.
The education system is not less important than the healthcare system.
More than one million of our children and young people can’t receive formal education in schools and universities.
What does the future hold for those who have lost this basic source of knowledge?
Children are now living in the darkness of fear and war.
Add the economy to the our collapsed healthcare and education system.
I am speaking as a municipalty employee.
Infrastructure has completely collapsed including roads, telecommunications, sewage treatment, stormwater drainage, and other development projects.
All those years we spent saving money, helping the vulnerable, providing social services to help the vulnerable and provide social services, all for nothing.
I am unable to speak to you via video right now because we don’t have telecommunications or the Internet to transmit video and audio securely at high speeds.
Sadly, everything that was beautiful has been destroyed.
We lost our homes, our families, our friends, our livelihoods and now there is nothing left for us in this city.
Everything beautiful is gone, destroyed.
