《하이파에 돌아와서》는 팔레스타인의 저항과 투쟁에 보내는 연대의 목소리다. 팔레스타인의 소설가 갓삿 카나파니의 소설에서 따온 이름이며 릴레이 비디오 프로젝트 의 시작점이다. 는 시각예술 주체들이 팔레스타인과 이스라엘 분쟁 과정에서 일어나는 반인도적인 학살 문제를 지적하기 위해, 이 문제에 개입하여 인본주의에 대해 성찰하고자 만들어졌다. 어쩌면 폭격이 실시간으로 중재되는 시대에 영상의 힘은 이제 약해졌을지 모른다. 인터넷상에서 펼쳐지는 ‘스크롤’이라는 행위는 어떤 반성이나 경험도 가져다 주지 못한 채 그들과의 거리를 확인하는 것에 불과할수도 있다. 하지만 몇 개월 전까지 학살을 보도하던 이미지들이 점점 모습을 감추고 있다. 이런 사실 앞에서 우리는 시각예술이 할 수 있는 것들을 성찰하고, 이미지를 다시 모으고, 이야기하고, 공간에서 무수히 반복 재생하여 연대의 목소리를 전하려고 한다.

《Return To Haifa》 is a voice of solidarity to the Palestinian resistance and struggle. It is named after a novel by Palestinian novelist Gassat Kanafani and is the starting point of the relay video project Haifa. ‘Haifa’ was created as a way for visual artists to intervene in the conflict between Palestine and Israel to point out the inhumane massacres that occur during the conflict, and to reflect on humanism. Perhaps the power of video is weakened in an era where bombings are mediated in real time. The act of ‘scrolling’ that we make, of unfolding on the internet, may seem to confirm our distance from them without bringing any reflection or experience. But the images that were covering the genocide a few months ago are disappearing. In the face of this fact, we want to reflect on what visual art can do, to reassemble images, to tell stories, and to play them over and over again in space to give a voice of solidarity.
