그녀의 답신을 통해 이날의 자리가 팔레스타인 현지에도 힘과 용기가 되었음을 알 수 있었습니다.
해방과 자유를 향한 연대는 서로에게 힘이 되고, 다시 더 큰 용기와 연대를 만들어냅니다.

‘팔레스타인인들과 연대하는 사람들’의 소중한 친구들께,
여러분의 편지를 받고, ‘팔레스타인을 읽고, 쓰다’ 문학 낭독회를 위해 여러분이 해 주신 일에 깊은 감사의 마음을 느꼈습니다. 한국에서 100명이 넘는 사람들이 모여 팔레스타인 문학을 단지 듣는 데 그치지 않고, 아랍어와 한국어 두 언어로 직접 읽고, 살아 있고 저항하는 한 민중의 목소리로서 그 문학과 교감했다는 사실은 제게 매우 큰 의미로 다가옵니다.
여러분은 그날 저녁 팔레스타인 문학이 언어의 경계를 넘어설 수 있는 공간을 만들어 주셨습니다. 어쩌면 그것이야말로 문학이 할 수 있는 가장 아름다운 일일 것입니다. 지리와 언어가 우리를 갈라놓고 있을 때조차 우리가 타인을 바라보고, 그 목소리를 듣고, 그들의 고통과 희망을 느낄 수 있게 하는 것 말입니다.
하지만 여러분의 편지는 팔레스타인이 가장 혹독한 시기 중 하나를 지나고 있는 지금 제게 도착했습니다. 가자지구를 덮친 엄청난 파괴는 여전히 계속되고 있으며, 제가 살고 있는 서안지구에서도 점령과 팔레스타인인들에 대한 탄압이 갈수록 심해지고 있습니다.
불과 며칠 전, 라말라 인근의 알무가이르 마을에서는 정착민들의 공격 과정에서 이제 막 삶을 펼쳐 나갈 나이의 팔레스타인 청년 두 명이 목숨을 잃었습니다. 팔레스타인인들의 삶이 얼마나 심각하게 위협받고 있는지를 단적으로 보여 주는 장면입니다. 알무가이르에서 벌어진 일에 관한 보도를 통해 자세한 내용을 확인하실 수 있습니다.
그렇기에 제게 여러분의 편지와 이번 문학 낭독회는 단순히 문학을 기념하는 것보다 훨씬 더 큰 의미를 갖습니다. 한국의 작가가 팔레스타인의 글을 읽고, 100명이 넘는 사람들이 자신의 언어로 팔레스타인의 목소리에 귀 기울일 때, 그들은 자신과 동떨어진 어떤 문학을 듣고 있는 것이 아닙니다. 그들은 기억을 지키고, 우리의 목소리가 세계 속에서 계속 존재하도록 하는 일에 함께하고 있는 것입니다.
저는 여러분이 8월 29일에 한 일이 성공적인 문학 낭독회의 끝이 아니라, 긴 여정의 시작이라고 생각합니다. 우리가 살아가는 지금 이 순간은 우리에게 분명히 말하고 있습니다. 우리는 더욱 힘차게 행동하고, 쓰고, 읽고, 번역하고, 이야기를 전해야 합니다. 팔레스타인과 세계 사이에, 문학과 정의 사이에, 기억과 연대 사이에 새로운 다리를 놓아야 합니다.
이 고귀한 노력에 진심으로 감사드립니다. 또한 연대가 지속적인 실천이 될 수 있으며, 문학이 그 깊고 인간적인 실천의 한 형태가 될 수 있다고 믿어 주시는 데 감사드립니다.
이번 문학 낭독회가 더 많은 만남과 낭독, 공동 프로젝트로 이어지는 시작이 되기를 바랍니다. 지금 우리에게 그 어느 때보다 필요한 것은 함께 계속해서, 그리고 더욱 힘차게 행동하는 것입니다. 우리는 아직 이 길의 시작에 서 있기 때문입니다.

After we shared the news of the meaningful conclusion of our August 29 literary reading, “Read and Write Palestine”, Palestinian writer Ahlam Bsharat sent us a reply from Palestine.
Her message showed us that our gathering that day also brought strength and courage to people in Palestine.
Solidarity for liberation and freedom gives strength to one another—and that strength, in turn, creates greater courage and solidarity.

Dear friends at ‘People in Solidarity with Palestinians’,
I received your message with a deep sense of gratitude for what you accomplished at the literature reading, “Read and Write Palestine.” Knowing that more than one hundred people gathered in Korea not only to listen to Palestinian literature, but to read it in both Arabic and Korean and engage with it as the voice of a living and resisting people, means a great deal to me.
That evening, you gave Palestinian literature a space that transcended the boundaries of language. Perhaps this is the most beautiful thing literature can do: enable us to see others, hear them, and feel their pain and hope, even when geography and language separate us.
Yet your message reaches me at one of the harshest moments the Palestinian cause has faced. After the immense destruction inflicted on Gaza, which continues to this day, the brutality of the occupation and its repression of Palestinians are increasingly spreading to the West Bank, where I live.
Just a few days ago, in the village of Al-Mughayyir near Ramallah, two young Palestinians in the prime of their lives were killed during an attack by settlers—a scene that encapsulates just how gravely Palestinian life has come under threat. You can read the details of what happened in the reports about Al-Mughayyir.
For this reason, your message and this literature reading mean far more to me than a celebration of literature. When a Korean writer reads a Palestinian text, and when more than one hundred people listen to the voice of Palestine in their own language, they are not simply listening to a literature distant from their own lives. They are taking part in safeguarding memory and in keeping our voice present in the world.
I feel that what you did on August 29 was not the conclusion of a successful literature reading, but the beginning of a long journey. The moment we are living through tells us clearly that we still need to work with greater determination—to write, read, translate, and tell our stories, and to build new bridges between Palestine and the world, between literature and justice, and between memory and solidarity.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this noble effort, and for your belief that solidarity can be an ongoing practice, and that literature can be one of its most profound and humane forms.
I hope this literature reading will be the beginning of many more gatherings, readings, and collaborative projects. What we need today, more than ever, is to continue working together, and with even greater strength, because we are still only at the beginning of the road.

بعد أن شاركنا خبر النجاح المميز لأمسية القراءة الأدبية «اقرأ واكتب فلسطين»، التي أُقيمت في 29 أغسطس/آب، وصلتنا رسالة من الكاتبة الفلسطينية أحلام بشارات من فلسطين.
ومن خلال رسالتها، أدركنا أن لقاءنا في ذلك اليوم كان أيضاً مصدر قوة وشجاعة لأهلنا في فلسطين.
إن التضامن من أجل التحرر والحرية يمنح بعضنا بعضاً القوة، وهذه القوة بدورها تولّد مزيداً من الشجاعة والتضامن.
فلنواصل تضامننا مع الشعب الفلسطيني، جنباً إلى جنب معه!
أصدقائي الأعزاء في حركة «المتضامنون مع الشعب الفلسطيني»،
وصلتني رسالتكم وأنا أشعر بامتنان عميق لما صنعتموه في أمسية «اقرأ واكتب فلسطين». إن معرفة أن أكثر من مائة شخص اجتمعوا في كوريا، ليس فقط للاستماع إلى الأدب الفلسطيني، بل لقراءته بلغتيه العربية والكورية، والتفاعل معه بوصفه صوت شعب حي ومقاوم، هو أمر يعني لي الكثير.
لقد منحتم الأدب الفلسطيني في تلك الأمسية مساحة تتجاوز حدود اللغة، وربما هذا هو أجمل ما يستطيع الأدب أن يفعله: أن يجعلنا نرى الآخر، ونسمعه، ونشعر بألمه وأمله، حتى حين تفصل بيننا الجغرافيا واللغة.
لكن رسالتكم تصلني في واحدة من أقسى المراحل التي تمر بها القضية الفلسطينية. بعد الدمار الهائل الذي أصاب غزة، والذي ما زال مستمراً، تنتقل قسوة الاحتلال والتنكيل بالفلسطينيين بشكل متصاعد إلى الضفة الغربية التي أعيش فيها.
وقبل أيام قليلة فقط، في قرية المغير قرب رام الله، قُتل شابان فلسطينيان في مقتبل العمر خلال هجوم للمستوطنين، في مشهد يلخص إلى أي مدى أصبحت الحياة الفلسطينية مهددة. يمكنكم قراءة تفاصيل ما حدث في هذا الخبر عن المغير.
لهذا، فإن رسالتكم وهذه الأمسية تكتسبان بالنسبة لي معنى أكبر بكثير من مجرد الاحتفاء بالأدب. حين يقرأ كاتب كوري نصاً فلسطينياً، وحين يصغي أكثر من مائة شخص إلى صوت فلسطين بلغتهم، فإنهم لا يستمعون إلى أدب بعيد عنهم؛ إنهم يشاركون في حماية الذاكرة، وفي إبقاء صوتنا حاضراً في العالم.
وأشعر أن ما قمتم به في 29 أغسطس/آب ليس نهاية أمسية ناجحة، بل بداية طريق طويل. فاللحظة التي نعيشها تقول لنا بوضوح إننا ما زلنا بحاجة إلى أن نعمل بقوة أكبر، وأن نكتب ونقرأ ونترجم ونحكي، وأن نبني جسوراً جديدة بين فلسطين والعالم، وبين الأدب والعدالة، وبين الذاكرة والتضامن.
أشكركم من القلب على هذا الجهد النبيل، وعلى إيمانكم بأن التضامن يمكن أن يكون فعلاً مستمراً، وأن الأدب يمكن أن يكون أحد أشكاله العميقة والإنسانية.
أتمنى أن تكون هذه الأمسية بداية لمزيد من اللقاءات والقراءات والمشاريع المشتركة. فما نحتاجه اليوم، أكثر من أي وقت مضى، هو أن نواصل العمل معاً، وبقوة أكبر، لأننا ما زلنا في بداية الطريق.
