💖 지난 7월 18일, [팔레스타인인에게 배우는 전통 자수(타트리즈) 하루 교실] 2회차가 성황리에 마무리되었습니다. 커지는 관심 속에 더 넓은 공간으로 옮긴 후 열린 이번 수업도 정원이 마감되어 많은 분들의 관심과 애정이 흠뻑 느껴졌습니다.
다채로운 배경을 가진 분들이 모인 가운데, 고국의 아름다운 문화 유산을 알려주고 싶은 마음으로 아들과 함께 참가한 팔레스타인인도 있었습니다.
🪡🧵 강연 후 이어진 실습 시간에는 모두가 한 땀 한 땀 자수를 놓았습니다. 교육자 미나 씨는 수강생들 곁에서 다정히 대화하고 교감했고, 참가자들 역시 강사와 도우미들에게 적극적으로 질문을 건네며 열기를 더했습니다. 미나 씨가 어머니의 타트리즈와 여러 전통 의복을 직접 보여 주며 지역별 고유 문양에 담긴 의미를 설명해 준 시간은 눈길을 사로잡고, 체험의 깊이를 더해 주었습니다.
🙌 마무리 시간에는 각자의 개성과 아이디어가 돋보이는 소중한 결과물을 소개하고 소감을 나눴습니다. 기존 도안에 자신만의 아이디어를 더한 작품도 볼 수 있었습니다. 한 참가자는 “일상의 옷에서 접했던 문양들이 팔레스타인 전통 문양일 수 있다는 사실을 알게 됐고, 앞으로 그 문화적 맥락을 세심하게 살피겠다”며 뜻깊은 소감을 남겼습니다. 이번 수업을 계기로 앞으로의 연대 활동에도 꾸준히 동참하고 싶다는 따뜻한 다짐도 이어졌습니다.✨️

💖 On July 18th, the 2nd session of the [Traditional Palestinian Embroidery(Tatreez) Workshop with a Palestinian Instructor] successfully wrapped up amidst enthusiastic support! Due to growing interest, we moved to a larger space, and with all spots fully booked once again, we could truly feel the immense interest and affection many of you have for Palestinian culture.
Among the participants from diverse backgrounds, there was also a Palestinian who attended with their son, carrying the desire to share the beautiful cultural heritage of their homeland.
🪡🧵 During the practice session that followed the lecture, everyone stitched their embroidery stitch by stitch. Our instructor, Mina, a Palestinian, warmly conversed and connected with the students by their sides, and the participants added to the passion by actively asking questions to the instructor and assistants. The moment when Mina personally showed her mother’s Tatreez and various traditional garments, explaining the meanings behind the unique patterns of each region, captivated everyone’s attention and deepened the experience.
🙌 During the wrap-up time, participants introduced their precious creations filled with individuality and ideas, and shared their thoughts. We could see not only delicately completed pieces but also artworks where participants added their own personal touches to the existing designs.
✨️ One participant left a meaningful remark, saying, “I realized for the first time that the patterns I’ve encountered on everyday clothes could be traditional Palestinian patterns, and I will pay closer attention to their cultural context from now on.” Warm pledges followed, expressing the desire to consistently join in future solidarity activities taking this class as an opportunity.
🌿 Tatreez contains history, memory, community spirit, and resistance within its beautiful patterns. We hope this meeting became a time to understand Palestine even more deeply and share the meaning of solidarity.
