한국 광주에서 공부하는 팔레스타인 대학원생으로서, 3년이 넘는 기간 동안 서울에서의 시위와 활동들을 목격하며, 자유라는 대의를 위해 한국의 사람들이 보여 주신 강인한 정신에 깊이 감동받았습니다.
가자지구의 상황은 휴전이 시작된 이후에도 크게 달라지지 않았으며, 주민들은 충분한 치료를 받지 못한 채 만연한 질병으로 계속해서 고통받고 있습니다.
이스라엘은 텐트 안에 있는 무고한 사람들을 계속해서 살해하고 있습니다. 생후 한 달 된 아기가 5월 25일 어머니의 품에 안겨 있던 중 공습을 받아 어머니를 잃고 한쪽 다리를 잃었으며, 어머니는 그 공격으로 목숨을 잃었습니다. 이는 그 아이가 평생 동안 짊어지고 살아가야 할 비극입니다.
이 공습으로 6세 소녀도 목숨을 잃었습니다. 그들의 유일한 죄는 이 비참한 삶 속에서 살아남으려 했다는 것뿐이었습니다.
저는 여러분의 시위와 활동이 한국의 최고 정치 수준까지 영향을 미칠 수 있는 힘을 지니고 있으며, 이스라엘 시온주의의 실상과 그들이 타인을 대하는 방식에 대한 인식을 높일 잠재력이 있다고 믿습니다.
최근 가자 구호선단 사건에 대한 한국 대통령의 발언과 성명은 이를 보여 주는 대표적인 사례입니다.

As a Palestinian graduate student in Gwangju, Korea, and after witnessing the protests and activities in Seoul, for over 3 continuous year, I was deeply moved by the strong spirit the Korean people have shown for the cause of freedom.
The situation in Gaza has not changed much since the ceasefire began, and the population continues to suffer from widespread diseases without adequate access to treatment.
Israel continues to kill innocent people in their tents. A one-month-old baby lost his mother and his leg in an airstrike on May 25th while in his mother’s arms, who was killed in the attack. This is a tragedy that will haunt the child for the rest of his life.
The strike also claimed the life of a six-year-old girl. Their only crime was surviving this miserable existence.
I believe your protests and activism have the potential to reach the highest political levels in Korea and raise awareness of the reality of Zionism in Israel and how it treats others.
The Korean president’s remarks and statements regarding the recent Gaza flotilla incident are a prime example of this.
