4월 6일 저녁, 서울대 팔레스타인 연대 동아리 ‘수박’은 ‘팔레스타인 인종청소: 1948년부터 오늘날까지’라는 제목의 팔레스타인 입문 강연을 개최했습니다.
이번 강연의 연사는 팔레스타인 실향민 3세대이자 서울대 재학생인 주마나가 맡았습니다. 주마나는 팔레스타인의 역사를 다루면서, 시온주의의 등장이 어떻게 오늘날 ‘이스라엘’이라 불리는 정착자-식민 국가의 수립으로 이어졌는지 설명했습니다. 주마나는 팔레스타인 인종청소의 핵심적인 순간이었던 1948년 나크바를 소개했는데, 이는 이스라엘을 건국하면서 시온주의 민병대가 팔레스타인인들을 살해하고 강제로 이주시킨 사건이었습니다. 그녀는 이러한 인종청소가 오늘날까지 이어지고 있음을 강조했습니다.
강연에는 45명이 참석했으며, 발제 후 Q&A 세션에서는 생산적인 토론이 이어졌습니다. 식민 국가 이스라엘에 저항할 수 있는 방법, 한 국가 해법의 가능성 등에 대한 질문과 함께 팔레스타인의 탈식민화를 향한 건설적인 논의가 이루어졌습니다.

On the evening of April 6th, SNU Soobak hosted an introductory lecture titled “Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine: From 1948 Until Today.”
The lecture was presented by Joumana, a third-generation Palestinian from the diaspora and a student at SNU. Joumana discussed the history of Palestine and how the founding of Zionism led to the establishment of the settler-colonial state that is referred to today as ‘Israel’. She explained the events that led to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, one pivotal moment being the 1948 Nakba when Palestinians were killed and forcibly expelled from their homes by Zionist militias. She also showed how this ethnic cleansing continues to this day.
With 45 people in attendance, the presentation was followed by a Q&A session where productive discussions took place. Attendees asked about how to resist the colonial state ‘Israel’ and the possibility of a one-state solution. These discussions were very insightful and contributed to the conversation on decolonizing Palestine.
