서울대 ‘수박’ 주마나 님의 <경향신문> 인터뷰

“팔레스타인과 광주·제주 그리고 이란…폭력의 고통으로 모두 연결돼 있어요”

“우리가 서로 연결돼 있다는 것을 느끼면 서로 지지할 수 있어요. 함께 서서 맞서지 않으면 나아갈 수 없어요.”

🍉 서울대 팔레스타인 연대 동아리 ‘수박’의 창립 멤버인 팔레스타인 실향민 3세대 주마나 님의 <경향신문> 인터뷰를 공유합니다.(2026년 4월 7일자)

🇵🇸 주마나 님은 파괴 속에서도 자신의 뿌리를 잊지 않고, 무감각과 무기력을 넘어서 희망의 메시지를 던져 왔습니다. 한국 최초의 팔레스타인 연대 동아리 ‘수박’은 대학가 연대 물결의 한 출발점이었습니다.

🤝 5월의 광주와 4월의 제주, 팔레스타인과 이란까지, 우리는 “같은 폭력” 아래 있고 “공동체를 지지하고 돈보다 사람을 소중히 여기는” 공통점이 있다고 주마나 님은 말합니다.

“Once we feel that we are connected to one another, we can support each other. If we do not stand together and resist, we cannot move forward.”

🍉 We are sharing an interview from (April 7, 2026) with Joumana, a third-generation Palestinian diaspora and a co-founder of “Soobak,”(watermelon) the Palestine solidarity club at Seoul National University.

🇵🇸 Joumana has not forgotten her roots even amid destruction, and has continued to convey a message of hope beyond numbness and helplessness. “Soobak” became a starting point for a wider wave of solidarity across university campuses in Korea.

🤝 From Gwangju in May and Jeju in April to Palestine and Iran, she says we are all under “the same violence” and share common values: supporting our communities and valuing people over profit.
