미국과 이스라엘이 시작한 이 불법적 전쟁이 시작된지도 36일째입니다.
전쟁 첫날, 미나브 지역에서 170명의 초등학생들, 어린 소년, 소녀들과 그 선생님들이 수차례 이어진 폭격으로 살해당하는 비극이 벌어졌습니다. 미국과 이스라엘의 손에는 그들의 피가 묻어 있습니다.
제가 지금 말하고 있는 이 순간에도 제 모국 이란과 가자, 레바논은 이 전쟁범죄자들에게 공격당하고 있습니다. 지금까지 미국과 이스라엘의 공습으로 600개 이상의 학교가 파괴됐고, 여러 대학, 필수 기초 시설, 제약 시설과 더불어 시공이 진행 중이던 이란에서 가장 긴 다리까지 폭격을 맞았습니다. 이 다리가 폭격을 맞았을 때, 이란의 전통 새해인 노루즈 연휴의 끝을 맞아 아름다운 경치를 즐기러 다리로 소풍을 나온 사람들이 휘말렸습니다. 여럿이 부상을 입었고 사망자들도 발생했습니다.
고작해야 훔친 땅에서 훔친 역사 말고는 없는 이 두 나라는 이란의 문화유적지들마저 파괴하고 있습니다.
이 전쟁이 시작됐을 때부터 저는 이 전쟁이 우리 이란인들을 해방시켜주거나 민주주의를 가져다주기 위한 게 아니라는 걸 알았습니다. 그러나 어떤 사람들은 이란을 향한 전쟁을 지지한 것의 죄책감을 덜려고 그런 선전을 믿기를 택했습니다. 그러나 1500여 명의 민간인들이 살해당하고 9만 채가 넘는 가옥이 파괴돼 수많은 사람들이 길거리에 나앉은 신세가 되는 상황을 이 나라의 해방이라고 보기는 어려울 것입니다.
테헤란 교사 노동조합 대변인이자 전 정치수였던 모함마드 하비비를 인용해보겠습니다.
“인터넷이 차단되기 전에 이 점을 짧게 짚어야겠다. 나는 지금까지 전쟁을 반대해왔고 앞으로도 그럴 것이다. 전쟁이 가져다주는 것은 파괴와 폭정의 강화 뿐이다.”
이란인들은 전쟁과 억압적 정권 모두로부터 고통받고 있습니다. 전투기들의 그림자 아래에서도 사형집행과 체포는 계속되고 있습니다. 정권교체는 커녕, 혁명수비대와 정부는 더욱 강화돼 반대의 목소리를 내는 시민들의 씨를 말리고 있습니다. 용감한 이란인 활동가들에 의해 시작된 혁명 운동은 그 동력과 지지를 잃었습니다. 전쟁이 운동의 성과를 원점으로 되돌려놨기 때문입니다.
그러나 이란 민중은 이를 이겨낼 것입니다. 역사를 통틀어, 이란 민중은 모든 형태의 억압에 저항해왔습니다. 오늘이라고 다르지 않습니다. 그들의 끈질김은 그저 구호가 아니라 매일같이 이어지는 현실입니다.

It’s been 36 days since the illegal war on Iran started by the USA and Israel, on the first day of this war a tragedy happened that killed 170 students in Minab, little boys and girls along with their teachers were bombed multiple times. Their blood is on USA and Israel’s hands.
As I speak my motherland Iran, Gaza and Lebanon are under attack by war criminals. So far US-Israeli strikes have destroyed more than 600 schools, bombed universities,critical infrastructures,pharmaceutical facilities and the longest bridge in Iran that was under construction and unfinished. They bombed the bridge while people were ending Nowruz holidays by going on a picnic and enjoying Iran’s nature close to the bridge, many got injured and caused multiple deaths. Iran’s heritage sites have been damaged by two countries that only have stolen history on stolen lands.
From the beginning I knew this war was not about liberating Iranians and bringing democracy to my people, But some want to believe that narrative so they won’t feel the guilt for supporting this war on Iran. Around 1500 civilians killed, more than 90,000 residential units destroyed and many people displaced from their homes, this doesn’t sound like liberating a nation.
I would like to quote from Mohammad Habibi,Tehran teachers spokesperson and former political prisoner: “Before I am cut off internet,let me say this briefly, I have always been, and remain, opposed to war. War brings nothing but destruction and the solidification of tyranny.”
Iranians are suffering from war and the regime, the executions and arrests still happen under the shadows of fighter jets.Not only the regime change did not happen, in fact it solidified the IRGC and the government even more to eliminate the citizens who oppose them. The revolutionary movements that started by brave Iranian activists have lost their power and support, for this war has taken them back to the point zero.
the Iranian people endure. Throughout history, they have resisted oppression in all its forms. Today is no different. Their resilience is not just a slogan, but a daily reality.
