11월 19일, 서울대 팔레스타인 연대 동아리 ‘수박’ 회원들은 서울대 건축학과의 초청으로 이스라엘 테크니온 공대 교수인 이스카 골드펠드가 진행한 ‘특강’에 항의했습니다. 테크니온은 팔레스타인인에 대한 인종학살에 직접 가담하고 있는 대학으로, 이스라엘의 무기 기업들과 긴밀히 협력해 팔레스타인인에 대한 전쟁 범죄에 사용되는 살상 기술을 개발하고 있습니다.
테크니온 대학뿐 아니라 골드펠드 교수 본인도 인종학살의 옹호자입니다. 골드펠드 교수는 이스라엘 시민권을 가진 21세 팔레스타인인 학생 리타 무라드가 이스라엘의 가자지구 공격을 규탄하는 인스타그램 게시물을 공유했다는 이유로 그를 퇴학시키는 데 앞장섰습니다. 대학 징계위원회에서 검사 역할을 맡은 골드펠드 교수는 무라드가 “테러리즘을 지지했다”고 음해하며, “가자 전투에서 싸우다 돌아온 학생”이 “하마스를 지지하는 학생”과 같은 강의실을 쓴다는 것은 용납될 수 없는 일이라고 주장했습니다. 결국 무라드는 테크니온을 떠날 수밖에 없었습니다.
우리는 불의를 외면할 수 없었습니다. 우리는 강연이 시작되자마자 쿠피예를 두르고 참가자들에게 테크니온과 골드펠드 교수의 범죄적 행위를 규탄하는 유인물을 배포했습니다. 이스라엘인 교수에게도 유인물을 건네려 했으나, 그가 거부하여 우리는 유인물을 교탁 위에 올려두었습니다. 이 과정에서 특강을 주선한 건축학과 강현구 교수는 우리를 향해 “이거 불법이야!”라고 으름장을 놓고, 심지어는 ‘수박’ 회원 중 한 명을 밀치기까지 했습니다. 우리는 “이것은 리타를 위한 것이다. 팔레스타인에 해방을!” 하고 외치며 자리를 떠났습니다.
건축학과는 특강이 시작되기 전에 우리가 건물 안에 붙인 포스터를 모두 철거하고 심지어는 대자보도 철거했습니다(슬라이드 8 참조). 심지어, 마스크를 쓴 한 중년 남성은 멀리서 우리의 행동을 촬영하고 있던 한 학생에게 다가가 근거도 없이 “촬영 행위는 불법”이라고 협박하고, 인종차별적이고 위협적인 태도를 보였습니다. 교수로 추정되는 그 인물의 정체를 우리는 반드시 찾아낼 것입니다.
무엇보다 유감스러운 점은 사전에 건축학과에 문제점을 지적하고 우려를 표했음에도 특강을 취소하지 않았다는 사실입니다. 우리 대학에 시온주의와 인종학살 공범들이 설 자리는 없습니다.

On November 19th, SNU Soobak protested the “special lecture” in the Department of Architecture delivered by Yiska Goldfeld, a professor at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Technion is directly complicit in the genocide of Palestinians and collaborates closely with Israeli arms manufacturers to develop lethal technologies used in war crimes against Palestinians.
Beyond Technion’s institutional complicity, Professor Goldfeld herself is a genocide apologist who was behind the expulsion of Rita Murad, a 21-year-old Palestinian student with Israeli citizenship, for sharing Instagram posts condemning Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza. Acting as the prosecutor in the university’s disciplinary tribunal, Prof. Goldfeld pushed for Murad’s expulsion for allegedly “supporting terrorism,” arguing that it would be unacceptable for students returning from “battle in Gaza” to share a classroom with her. Murad had no other choice to leave the university.
This could not go unchallenged. Just as the lecture started, we put on our Keffiyehs and distributed flyers denouncing the criminal acts of Technion and Professor Goldfeld to those attending the lecture. We attempted to hand the flyer to the Israeli professor herself; she refused to take it, so we placed it on her podium. During the action, Professor Thomas Kang (강현구) from the Department, who had arranged the lecture, attempted to obstruct us, shouting “This is illegal!” and even pushing one of our members. We left the room saying, “This is for Rita. Free Palestine!”
The Department removed all the posters we had posted inside the building before the lecture began, and even took down our written poster (Slide 8). During the action, a middle-aged man with a mask on approached a student who was filming us from a distance and intimidated her by falsely claiming that “filming is illegal,” while displaying racist and hostile behavior. We will identify this individual, who we believe to be a professor.
It is absolutely shameful that this event was not cancelled, even after we raised our concerns with the Department beforehand. There is no place for Zionism and genocide accomplices on our campus.
