이스라엘은 가자지구를 굶겨 죽이고 있습니다
“가자의 어린이들을 살리자!”
이스라엘이 2023년 10월 팔레스타인 가자지구를 공격하며 시작된 학살이 22개월째 계속되고 있습니다. 지금까지 6만 명이 넘는 팔레스타인인이 이스라엘군에게 죽임을 당했고, 이 중 절반 이상은 여성과 어린이입니다. 이스라엘이 팔레스타인인들의 절멸을 목표로 인종 학살을 벌이면서 가자지구의 90퍼센트가 파괴됐습니다.
하지만 이스라엘은 단순히 폭격과 지상전으로 민간인들을 학살하는 데 그치지 않고, 인구 230만 명에 달하는 가자지구 전체를 아사로 몰아 넣고 있습니다. 이스라엘은 극히 제한적으로나마 가자지구로 반입되던 구호품과 물자를 지난 3월부터 완전히 차단했습니다. 가자지구 현지 의료진에 따르면 임산부 6만 명이 끼니를 구하지 못하고, 영유아들의 분유도 고갈됐다고 합니다. 가자지구 아동 60만 명이 영양실조 상태이고, 지금까지 154명이 넘는 팔레스타인인들이 아사했고 이 중 아동은 89명입니다.
라파 국경 개방
게다가 이스라엘 정부는 구호품을 배급한다며 몰려든 팔레스타인인들에게 총격을 가해 지금까지 1000명이 넘게 사망했습니다. 어제 하루에만 이스라엘이 운영하는 배급소에서 90명이 살해 당했습니다. 가혹한 “죽음의 덫”입니다.
그럼에도 미국을 비롯한 서방 정부들은 이스라엘에 제동을 걸기는커녕, 군사∙외교적 지원을 제공하고 있습니다. 미 의회는 지난 7월 이스라엘에게 5억 달러 규모의 군사 원조안을 승인했습니다. 미국 트럼프 정부는 명백한 학살 공범입니다.
또 다른 공범도 있습니다. 가자의 유일한 해외 국경인 라파 국경을 걸어잠근 이집트 엘시시 정부입니다. 엘시시 정부는 이스라엘과 협력해 가자지구를 봉쇄하며 기아 사태에 일조하고 있습니다. 기아 사태에 일조하고 있습니다. 이집트 정부는 즉각 라파 국경을 개방해 국경 검문소에서 대기 중인 수 천 대의 구호품 트럭을 반입시켜야 합니다.
이집트 정부뿐 아니라 이스라엘의 인종 학살에 제동을 걸지 않는 아랍 정부들에 대한 자국민들의 항의의 목소리도 커지고 있습니다. 이스라엘과 학살 공범들에 맞서 전 세계 곳곳에서 자국 정부의 학살 지원에 항의하고, 팔레스타인에 연대 행동이 벌어지고 있습니다.
세계 주요 도시에서 수많은 사람들이 가자지구를 굶주림으로 몰아 넣는 이스라엘에 항의하고 있습니다. 또, 배고픔을 상징하는 냄비를 두드리며 거리로 나서고 있습니다.
인종 학살과 점령의 비극, 끔찍한 굶주림은 하루 빨리 끝나야 합니다. 가자지구로 향하는 국경을 당장 개방해 식량과 의약품, 물자를 반입해야 합니다! 팔레스타인 해방을 위해 함께합시다!

Israel is starving Gaza to death
“Save the children of Gaza!”
The massacre that began with Israel’s assault on the Gaza in October 2023 has now continued for 22 months. More than 60,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military so far, and over half of them are women and children. Israel has destroyed 90 percent of Gaza in its genocidal campaign aimed at the extermination of Palestinians.
But Israel is not only slaughtering civilians through airstrikes and ground invasions. It is pushing the entire population of Gaza—2.3 million people—into starvation. Since March, Israel has completely blocked the entry of humanitarian aid and essential supplies that were previously allowed in only in limited quantities. According to local medical workers in Gaza, 60,000 pregnant women are going without food, and infant formula has run out. Some 600,000 children in Gaza are suffering from malnutrition. Over 154 Palestinians have died of starvation so far, 89 of them children.
Open Rafah Crossing
Moreover, the Israeli government has opened fire on Palestinians who gathered to receive aid, killing over 1,000 people. Just yesterday alone, 90 people were killed at Israeli-run distribution sites. This is a brutal “death trap.”
Nonetheless, Western governments, led by the United States, are not restraining Israel—instead, they are providing military and diplomatic support. In July, the U.S. Congress approved $500 million in military aid for Israel. The U.S. Trump administration is a clear accomplice in this genocide.
There is another accomplice: the Egyptian government under El-Sisi, which has sealed off the Rafah crossing—the only border between Gaza and the outside world. By cooperating with Israel in the blockade, the El-Sisi regime is contributing to the famine in Gaza. The Egyptian government must immediately open the Rafah crossing and allow the thousands of aid trucks waiting at the border to enter.
Voices of protest are also growing louder among the citizens of Arab countries, criticizing their own governments for failing to take action against Israel’s genocide. Around the world, people are rising up to oppose their governments’ support for the genocide and to show solidarity with Palestine.
In major cities across the globe, crowds are taking to the streets, banging pots and pans to symbolize hunger and denounce Israel’s starvation of Gaza.
This genocide, occupation, and horrific famine must end now. The borders to Gaza must be opened immediately to allow food, medicine, and supplies to enter! Let us unite for the liberation of Palestine!
